Korean Mother of Pearl inlaid Lacquer Jewelry Chest, Ca. Joseon or Chosun Dynasty, 19th Century, 10 1/2" high, 11" wide-maximum measurement. Front of drawers are all inlaid with Mother of Pearl and some wood branches, two(2) long drawers are inlaid design of Ducks swimming between or under the Lotus flowers in the Pond and trees and some thin wood branches, Egret couples are enjoying their morning between vegetation, and two(2) short drawers next to each other between two(2) long drawers are decorated with inlaid mother of pearl Peony flowering branches, set inside black lacquered frame and red lacquer trim in front and between drawers, supported by shaped skirt and bracket feet. All the drawers have brass tear drop pulls. The condition is good. nothing is missing.

Korean Mother of Pearl inlaid Black Lacquer chest with heavy Brass Hardware for upper class Scholar for storing necessary writing implements, Joseon Dynasty period, 19th C. 11" high, 10" wide-bottom measurement, 15" deep. In front inlaid of beautiful and peaceful lake scenery with boat, pavilion and pine trees on brass hinged double doors under the lift up top with horizontal brass bar into Brass Turtle to close and open. Two(2) long drawers for storing long brushes inside the double hinged doors and beautiful brass plates with two(2) small rings. Two(2) Swans protecting Peach trees circling the Chinese character "Long Life" in the circle on the top, all inlaid with Mother of Peal. On the side, there are full scale of peaceful Lake scene, 2 old scholars in the boat, pine trees in the mountain with Pavilions, just beautiful piece of art. Back is plain black lacquer finish with Long wide horizontal bar hinge to protect the weight of the top when it is open. Heavy Brass plate and hinges wrapped around the corners, between red lacquered bottom frame with shaped skirts and curved legs, and also front and back. The condition is good, no missing pieces, some black lacquer finish is rubbed off and shows brown wood around the corners and edges.

Korean Mother of Pearl inlaid black Lacquer dressing Mirror Box or Chest, Joseon or Chosun Dynasty, 19th Century, 10 1/2" deep, 6" high, 7 3/4 wide, inlaid diaper design on top and front, floral design on both sides, Bamboo design in the back, small inlaid bamboo design is in the back side and around the Bat shape Brass handle. Lift up the hinged top to reveal the mirror inside under the top, one(1) drawer supported by low bracket feet wrapped around by solid Brass frame. All hardware fittings are solid Brass with drawer pull is shape of flying hairy bat. To open the top, push forward the round half moon shape button on top and horizontal shape of brass piece will pop forward and then lift up the hinged front top section, and rest the mirror any heights and angle necessary. The condition is all original, shows wear and tear over the years, missing mother of pearl flower pedals and leaves on both sides, and missing mother of pearl and wood separation on top area.

Korean Gray Stone Laundry pounding Stone, Dadumi-dol(in Korean), Ca. late 1800's or earlier, 22" wide, 8" deep, 4 1/4" high, almost 70 pounds in weight. This Laundry Pounding stone was used before open charcoal Iron to press the large size of sheets or others need to press by pounding hours with two(2) wooden mallets on top of the laundry on this flat and smooth stone to make nice and neat laundry. Rectangle flat surface supported by four(4) bracket feet plus two(2) extra support by carved and shaped feet in front and back in the center. This will make nice garden collection. The condition is good, no major damages, the surface is flat but not shiny any more.

Pair beautiful rare findings of Korean Scholar Chests "Mungap" with Burl wood inlaid doors and drawers and white Brass "Baektong" lock plates and square handles, 18" high, 32" wide, 13 3/4" deep, three(3) burl wood front drawers above the four(4) removable burl wood frameed panel doors supported by small feet, continue to vertical frame, wrapped with the white brass around the corners, and top shows the dovetail method. All the panel doors are removable through the one door-second from the right-slide and pull through and pushed to the left side one by one to close all four(4) doors, no one can open the doors unless know how to open the whole chest. Only one(1) door-second from right- has the key hole which can be open. The way to open the key hole-only one- is to push the white brass round center of the flower to upward, but none of others open except one(1) door-second from right. Inside the four(4) panel doors, there are four(4) small drawers under the top with small white brass tear drop shape handles. It is very important to lock the documents and papers, plus all the valuable utensils for scholar. The condition is very good, shows the normal age wears, none of the white brass hardwear is missing. This was owned by one of the collectors in DC area for long time.

Korean Black Iron frame Lantern, circa 1890-1920, with wooden base on the bottom with one(1) drawer, white rice paper is draped on the upper iron frame section, 29" high for maximum height (include the handle 2 3/4" high), 10" x 10" square. Inside the upper section which is covered with rice paper, there is a long hanging iron candle holder with round iron dish from the upper hook which is attached to the wide top iron frame, the candle holder is removable from the round small eye hook. The front door is hinged, opens from left to right and the latch in front to close the front part of door tightly, all in good working order. There is a small tear on the rice paper section about 2" long but still in place comfortably without open space.
