Pair beautiful rare findings of Korean Scholar Chest "Mungap" with Burlwood inlaid doors and drawers with White Brass "Baektong" lock plates and square handles, 18" high, 32" wide, 13 3/4" deep, three(3) burlwood front drawers above the four(4) removable burlwood with lighter wood line frame panel doors supported by small feet, continue to vertical frame, wrapped with the white brass on the corners, top shows the dovetail method. All the panel doors are removable through the one area-second from right area- slide and pull through that area and pushed to the left side one by one to close all four(4) doors, no one can open the doors unless know how to open the whole chest. Only one(1) door-second from right- has the key hole which is open. The way to open the key hole-only one- is to push the white brass round center of the flower to upward, but none of others open except one(1) door-second from right. Inside the four(4) panel doors, there are four(4) small drawers under the top with small white brass tear drop shape handles. It is very important to lock the documents and papers, plus all the valuable utensils of the scholar. The condition is very good, shows the normal age wears, none of the white brass hard wear is missing. This was owned by one of the collectors in DC area for long time.

Korean dark brown Lacquer inlaid with Phoenix and Dragon design Low Table, inlaid with mostly Shark's Skin, and other inlaid materials are Mother of Pearl, Tortoise Shell and twisted brass wire, 13 1/2" high, 38 1/2" x 27" wide. Top of the table is inlaid design of Four(4) claws Dragon and Phoenix chasing flaming Pearl, most of Dragon is inlaid with Shark"s Skin with twisted wire and Dragon's eyes are inlaid Mother of Pearl. The Phoenix is mostly inlaid with Tortoise Shell with Mother of Pearl eyes and few pieces of Tortoise Shell is missing on feather part-see white small area, puffy cotton clouds on top are inlaid with Mother of Pearl plus few Korean style of small money sacks on the side apron, all other inlaid works are done with Shark's Skin in different colors with twisted Brass Wire. There are some Chinese Characters inlaid with Tortoise Shell on the corners of four(4) aprons, and drop down to four(4) gracefully curved short legs. Very tight crack on wood -see photos- can be repaired or leave it alone. Some lacquer finish was done with gold powders sprinkled on the dark brown lacquer just before the artist finish the final touch. Please request for more photographs. There are very minimum separation between top and side apron in couple corners.

Five(5) assorted Korean Roof Tile Ends, two(2) round tiles-one(1) is dragon and the other one is Pin Wheel, all low relief molded design-5 1/2" to 6 1/2" round, 3 1/2" to 6" deep. Three(3) broken assorted molded low relief Chinese Character pieces are 6" to 3 1/2" wide. These are as is found condition.

Korean Silver "Norigae" Yi Dynasty before 1920 Lucky Charm, hanging from the Lady's traditional short Jacket which is the symbol of longevity and much luck, different color of enamel work on top of the hollow octagonal shape Silver Filigree, enamel work on the Phoenix Bird with long tails and Chinese Character "Long life" in the center, and Korean knotted double dark blue Tassel wrapped around with Gold Thread with Korean symbol in blue, few enamel work is chipped off but not very noticeable.

Korean wooden window from old straw thatched roof farm house in rural area, 19th century, 23 1/2" high, 15 1/2" wide, 1 3/4" thick, natural weathered wood color with black wrought iron round ring handle and two(2) hinges fitted into the wooden open frame of the house. Shows wear and tear on wood, all the black iron hardwares are in good condition.

Korean Black Iron frame Lantern, circa 1890-1920, with wooden base on the bottom with one(1) drawer, white rice paper is draped on the upper iron frame section, 29" high for maximum height (include the handle 2 3/4" high), 10" x 10" square. Inside the upper section which is covered with rice paper, there is a long hanging iron candle holder with round iron dish from the upper hook which is attached to the wide top iron frame, the candle holder is removable from the round small eye hook. The front door is hinged, opens from left to right and the latch in front to close the front part of door tightly, all in good working order. There is a small tear on the rice paper section about 2" long but still in place comfortably without open space.
