Chinese Export Gold and Black Lacquer Tea Caddy, mid 1800's, 5 1/4" high, 9 1/4" x 6" wide, with very finely detailed painting of garden and court scene in different shades of gold, light and dark on black lacquer background, used one(1) hair brush in most of areas to draw finest line and face expressions, and carved Dragon feet with open red mouth. The quality of this tea caddy is one of the best ones I ever seen for long time. It contains two(2) engraved Pewter tea boxes inside with fitted covers and round bone knob. Pewter boxes have some dent. The condition of this lacquer tea caddy is exceptionally good compare to the other lacquer tea caddies in this kind of delicate lacquer work as a 19th century piece. There are some black lacquer losses on the bottom around the front left foot in small area, and lower part of the lid under the top and small lacquer loss of the left side under the lid. very minimal lacquer wear in tiny areas around the corners of outer top edges.
