Set of Eight(8) Japanese two different shades of Gold Maki lacquered covered bowls, Ca. late Meiji early 1900, 3 1/4" high include top or cover, 4 1/2" diameter top rim. Raised low relief design of Gold Maki Lacquered Ferns and other flowering plants behind rock garden on dark chocolate color of lacquer on wood. The beautiful and detailed fine Lacquer work was done two different shades of gold in different relief design continues to the cover, bottom and side ways. Inside the bowl is very light color of cafe au lait color, different than outside dark chocolate color. Two(2) gold lacquer butterflies decorated under the cover. There are very minimal few tiny lacquer chips average size of 1/8" on the bottom and top rim, not very noticeable.

Japanese 32 Sword Scabbards set in Wood Frame-top and shaped bottom Tray, Meiji period, 13 1/4" x 8" wide, 1 1/2" high, and Scabbard-1" high, 1 3/8" wide for each Scabbard, include Shark's skin, various technique Lacquered design, none of them are same, all different lacquered Scabbard, tray has rounded corners on top and short rounded bracket feet on the bottom. All the Scabbards are in good condition but wood on the bottom shows two(2) cracks between 5" to 9" long.

Japanese Keyaki wood Tansu, two(2) section Tansu, early part of Meiji Period, 1867-1912, with brass Turtle and Iron Eagle on black iron oval shape back plate and heavy black iron handles, 46" high, 48" wide, 17 1/2" deep. Lower piece has two(2) drawers, two(2) small drawers inside the highly decorated with black iron small blind door next to bottom drawer, and top piece with two(2) long graduated size drawers. The Keyaki wood grains are very decorative, the secondary wood is black lacquered Cedar wood. All the lock plates are decorated with raised removable Brass Turtles and Iron Eagles within brass frame. Brass Turtle will move up and down to hide the key holes and change his positions. The condition is good, shows some wears on wood, and little bits of brass beaks of Eagles are broken off.

Beautiful Japanese Marquetry inlaid Table, mid 1800's, many different decoration of Marquetry designs are displayed in this three(3) functional table, all in one(1) table, becomes to a Book Stand, a Chess table and a Sewing or Work Table, 33 1/2" high, 13" deep, 35 1/2" wide when it is open, 17 1/2" wide when two(2) leaves are closed on both side, with inlaid bracket support leaves in the back and front on both side. This multiple purpose table comes in two(2) part, with separate stand with curved black lacquered legs connected to the rectangle shape stretcher on the bottom to strengthen the legs. There are two(2) small drawers above one(1) long drawer next to the small door inlaid with Persimmon wood Cherry tree, and mounted with stamped white metal. Inside the door, there are small drawers. There is a pull out board in the bottom of the top piece in front, also inlaid with geometric design of Marquetry work with different kind of wood and shows various colors of the wood and shapes, and back side also inlaid with floral branches, very different design than other side. This pull out board goes into the long horizontal opening in the back and become book stand. If no need for the book stand, then push the board into the long horizontal opening in front side, then become hidden under the top piece. The pull out board in front become extra table top when more space is needed for sewing or other type of work. This table is a multiple purpose table, plus a very beautiful piece of Marquetry furniture in any room setting. There are slight warping on the table top, some wear and tear on wood surface, no missing inlaid piece of woods.

Pair Japanese carved solid Wood Shrine Guardian Lions, 10 1/2" high, 6" wide, 11" deep, wonderfully aged, bleached and weathered being outside above Shrine or Temple heavy door frames. These Guardians also called Protector, or Shishi Dog, one mouth open and another mouth closed, always as a pair, placed on the top of the door hinges or under the eave in front of the Shrine doors to protect and stand Guard outside before entering the Shrine. The details of the carving is bold but very detailed, like fat feet and tummy, fierce eyes, and face expressions are very humorous and cute. The condition is good, one side of ear belongs to the one mouth open is somewhat bruised and missing a little piece of wood, and shows the age and weathered cracks on the both Guardian Dogs.

Two(2) graduated size long drawers in the top section. Front of the Tansu is highly decorative grains of Keyaki wood, and the side secondary wood is Cedar wood, with black lacquered on the Cedar wood frame. All the lock plates are decorated with Brass Turtle and iron Eagles inside the Brass Frame. There are some wear on wood and small pieces of Brass beaks are broken off-see pictures.

All the Marquetry inlaid wood designs are on the front part of the doors and the top area, representing typical Japanese Artistic Symbols on the Hardwood Cedar and other mixed wood, and Brass key hole is not complete. It shows beautiful wood old Patina with age, one(1) vertical small piece of the wood on the side panel is missing for long period of time, and one(1) hole in the back was mended.

The beautiful bold looking grain of Cedar wood is noticeable and all original condition, no major damage except old copper lining is somewhat stained.
