We offer this scarce and wonderfully decorative Silver Luster Character "Toby" Jug created by the firm of Arthur Bowker. This item is marked on its base "Arthur Bowker Fine Bone China, Made in England. The Toby stands 6 1/4" tall and measures 5" across at its widest point. Here is some additional bio on Arthur Bowker England; Arthur Bowker was the son of a miner, born in 1909. He gained a scholarship for the local grammar school but left at 14years old, to contribute to the family purse. He resisted mining as a career and followed his dream of producing something beautiful amidst his depressing background. He was apprenticed to E. W. Brain & Co (Foley China) and developed his talents as an artist. This was followed by time spent at Salisbury Crown China. In 1948, he took the gamble of going alone and began Arthur Bowker, Staffordshire Fine Bone China. In a single room in Longton, he began producing miniature items, jugs, kettles, simple brooches and then Figurines. One of the earliest, a small crinoline lady, was named Christine, after his only daughter. He gradually expanded and moved to King Street, Fenton. A wide range of decorative china was begun. This included figurines of ladies; memorabilia (especially for the Coronation of Elizabeth 2nd); china flower posies; character figures; various animals; dogs; birds and many other designs. Most items bore his self-explanatory mark. Figurines were signed with their identification name, usually by the painter. Very many items were exported around the world, including U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand and others. In 1958, the business failed, largely due to changes in purchase tax and other export regulations. He died in 1962. No chips, cracks or repairs. We offer for purchase this wonderful 1800's Bennington Parian Miniature Pitcher! This wonderful mini measures only 2 5/8" X 2 1/4". The Pitcher has a Rope Handle, raised Ivy Vine around the upper third of the pitcher and vertical ribs and band on the lower two thirds. No Marks as is normal for Bennington Parian. This item is thin and when held to light, semi translucent. There is a very small bottom rim flake that we are not sure if it occurred in the manufacturing or after so we not this. Very nice Blue and White Romantic Staffordshire Transfer Dish. This lovely item shows a Romantic View of a Couple on the Shore looking out past what appear to be Italian Villa's located upon a River with Fisherman in a boat in the distance. The outer pattern also shows Friezes of Italianate buildings. There is a British Registry Mark on the reverse that dates this item to August 23, 1848. There is some slightly darkened area on the reverse of the dish but overall it is in very nice conditions. The dish measures 5 1/2" across. No chips, cracks or repairs. We offer for purchase this vintage CAPODIMONTE Italian Porcelain figural Soldier Wine Bottle. This item is extremely well modeled and hand painted. The Napoleon Bonaparte insignia is prominently displayed upon the front of this bottle. Standing at 13" tall and a square base measuring 3 1/2" X 3 1/2". The bottom also has a company logo in the raised mold. The original stopper appears to be pushed down into the neck of the soldiers has but it may be removed if you wish by use of a cork screw. We offer for purchase this lovely marked "CAC LENOX GLEN-IRIS" VASE. This item was produced by the Ceramic Art Company (CAC) Lenox between 1896-1906. The base of this vase has what is described by Authors Loma and Petula Eng as being Lavender CAC Mark #6. This vase stands 8 1/4" tall and 4 1/4" across at the widest point. This vase does have 2 small partially repaired (filled)rim flakes that each measures slightly under 1/8" across and no deeper than 1/16". The gold rim seems to have been worn away or removed by someone in the past to attempt to repair this vase. This is a very easy repair to complete as it appears to only need the addition of a gold rim paint. We feel that this beautiful vase is well worth the minor effort and our price will easily allow the new owner to perform or pay to have it done at your favorite restorer. MAGNIFICENT Antique Pate sur Pate Art Nouveau Vase. This low relief designed vase has 2 extremely detailed flying Putti with trails of smoke and Beard from the Stunning Figural Handle with the face of the Man in the Moon in Low Relief and equally fine detail. The base color for the vase is a medium Green while the decoration is Carved Back and Slip Applied in White and Pale Mint Green. The vase stands 10 1/2" tall and measures 4 1/2" across at the widest point. The back of the vase has a very small area where the glaze has a somewhat orange peel texture to it but it is in the making and of no harm and I mention it for accuracy sake only as id does not distract or detract from this wonderful work of art.
