A beautiful Dingyao (from Hebei, China) in elegant melon shape from northern Song dynasty. This box is in a relatively large size and covered with nice ivory-tinted white glaze. You can find some tool marks (bamboo brushing), glaze dripping and fine crackle on it body (refer to last images). The unglazed parts reveal an extra fine and hard biscuit and thus made the box rather solid. Also, trace of calligraphy can be seen at the bottom. Only two small chips and one glaze imperfection are found inside, otherwise no crack, no restoration.
