Rivera Mexico City Mexican Silver Necklace Matl Style
What is offered today is a signed Rivera Mexican silver necklace done in the Matl style or old Mexico City style that he is famous for. Rivera's signatures are also on older pieces and the MR-38 is on the tongue of the clasp. I date this to the earliest use of the change over in hallmarks. The stones are mellowed over time and the workmanship rivals Matilde Poulat' s EARLIEST work. The natural patina is dark and I am leaving it to the owner to make it the way they like with a polish cloth. The neck chain slides through the fingers like silk and is especially pleasing as each section is jeweled with amethyst. The repousse birds are masterful. This piece screams with attention to detail and perfect execution. There is a 15in. wearable length with a drop of 5in. across including the 2 side links and is 4 in. tall. The weight is 124 grams. The chain is 1 1/8th in. A wonderful treasure, just LOOK AT THAT NECKLACE!
