Matilde Poulat designed this very clever snake with alternating designed coils making a .75in. wide chain. The head is 1in. wide and 2in. long with turquoise stones that make the clasp that is also the jewel to the entire piece. Every snake head that I have seen has always been different. Matilde arranged the stones and the stone choices with each piece individually making these snakes truly one of a kind. This particular snake head is broad with warmed stones and superbly arranged with filigree and beads. Truly a gorgeous and older example. It weighs a hefty 100 grams and is a bit over 16in. long. Most of these snakes are extremely short in length making this one a great find. This Matl is properly hallmarked with Matl cursive and engraved Mexico 925 and an eagle 1 for an older hallmark when Matl was still designing. This snake is gold washed and it is also sporting a heavy patina that gives this snake a warmed gild and not shiny. Easy to fall in love with this one and is suitable for the most discriminating collector and museum quality, just LOOK AT THAT NECKLACE!
