Arts & Crafts Copper/Brass Pin Dish: Joseph Walker 1908

This is a little Arts & Crafts era, circular pin dish or tray, with a repousse copper bowl & brass base, & made by Joseph Walker & Sons of Birmingham around 1908.

The bowl of the dish is in copper & has a repousse scene of an Edwardian gentleman athlete running cross country, with hills, trees, bushes, & a 5 bar gate in the background.

The base of the dish is in brass, & has 4 small repousse 'feet', with the edge of the copper bowl forming a rolled lip.

The base is fully marked with the makers mark 'JW over B' in a shield ( Joseph Walker & Sons, who were working from Regent Parade in Birnmingham at this time), the registered design number '521203 (regd. in 1908), & 'Made in England'.

The dish is approx 4" in diameter (approx 10cm), & is quite heavy for it's size at around 78 g.

Condition is Fine, the rim undulates very slightly, & the base has a few shallow indentations (the dish was hand finished) & the expected marks from a century of use. The repousse decoration is very sharp.

Overall, a fine little dish in great condition for it's 100 years.
