David Andersen Norway Silver & Enamel Brooch c1950

This is a Norwegian Sterling Silver & Enamel brooch or pin, designed by Willy Winnaess for David-Andersen in the 1950's, with full hallmarks for Norway Sterling (including makers marks for both D-A and WW), & with additional Swedish import Silver marks.

The brooch is in the form of a leaf, with the front being decorated in a transparent, light green enamel which allows the vein details of the leaf to show through.

The brooch has a 'C' clasp fixing.

The rear of the brooch is fully hallmarked with the David Andersen mark (a set of scales, D-A, & 925 S), 'NORWAY STERLING', & the Willy Winnaess mark (W in a circle). In addition, the stem is hallmarked with Swedish import marks which consist of the three crowns (national mark for Sweden), & 'S' in a hexagonal cartouche (Swedish silver standard mark).

Condition is good, the only thing to note is that there is a tiny hairline to the enamel at the very tip (please see magnified photo's).

The brooch measures approx 6.8 cm or 2 5/8" in length.

Overall, a stunning brooch from a famous maker & designer, unusual in that it also carries Swedish marks, & in good condition for it's 50 odd years.
