This is an antique brass crank wind fishing reel, probably used for trout fishing etc, & dating to the late 19th / early 20th Century.

The reel is made from all brass, and has a curved handle with an 'ebonite' knob. There is a permanent ratchet fitted which works in both directions.

The front & back of the reel have a concentric circle decoration.

The reel is in original, unrestored condition, but is overall extremely good. The drum turns fine & the ratchet is strong in both directions. The only things to note are that the finish has the expected age related wear, & the 'ebonite' knob on the handle is deeply grazed - please see magnified photos.

The reel measures approx 2 3/4" in diameter, 1 3/16" wide, with an internal width of 1" (approx 6.9cm, 3cm, & 2.5cm).
