This is a stunning late 18th Century Glass Water Jug, with a substantial square foot & applied strap handle, & dating to around 1790.

The jug has a scalloped lip or rim with a scalloped, flared neck, a faceted & diamond cut body which sits on a compressed & cut stem, which in turn sits (off centre) onto a heavy & thick square foot. The applied strap handle has been cut & features a cut 'thumb rest'.

The base has a ground out pontil leaving a central hollow to the base of the foot.

Condition is Excellent. The square foot is rather crudely cut & there is the expected wear to the edges & base.

The jug measures approx 6 1/4" high or 15.8cm (at the highest point) & weighs a very substantial 742 grammes.
