Large Arts & Crafts Pewter Butlers Tray: Talbot c.1910

This is an Arts & Crafts galleried Pewter tray, made by Talbot, & dating to around 1910 - 20.

The tray is oval in form & has a fairly deep gallery, which folds inwards towards the centre & curves upwards at either end to accommodate the handle apertures.

The interior of the tray & the exterior of the gallery have a planished finish, whilst the top edge of the gallery has been furnished with an applied band of planished pewter which, in turn, has been decorated with a raised roundel or stud detail for its entire length.

The exterior of the handles have a raised pewter lining.

The base is stamped with the makers mark of 'TALBOT' over an oval containing '1544' over 'PEWTER'. There is also the number '16'.

Condition is fine with just the expected, very light surface marks to the base.

The tray is approx 16 3/8" long & 11" wide (approx 41.6cm x 28cm) and is heavy for it's size at just under 1.6 Kg.

Overall, a very high quality & nicely detailed Arts & Crafts tray.
