This is a stunning little Irish china jug, made by Belleek & dating to circa 1891 - 1926. The backstamp on the jug is extremely feint (rubbed & almost non existent) but the jug came with the matching bowl (also listed) which bears the 2nd period black mark. The jug is made from a very light weight & translucent china, with an ivory lustre finish. The jug is formed from three adjoining, embossed scallop shells, with an embossed & hand painted Shamrock design on all three sides, & an applied Harp handle. The rim & spout of the jug is scalloped & it sits on an embossed, pedestal foot. Condition is absolutely superb, with no chips, cracks, hairlines, or restoration. There is expected, very light wear to the unglazed base and, as mentioned, the backstamp is almost non existent.. The jug sits approx 3 1/8" high at the highest point (approx 7.9cm). Please have a look at the matching bowl we have also listed. |
