8" Georgian Silver Table Spoon ELIZABETH TOOKEY 1772

This is a Georgian Silver table or serving spoon, made during the reign of George III by the renowned female silversmith Elizabeth Tookey, & fully hallmarked for London 1772.

The spoon is of the 'Old English' pattern, with a rounded, down turned terminal & a large drop to the reverse of the bowl. The terminal is engraved with the block initials S over I T (or E?).

The hallmarks are bottom struck & consist of the makers mark 'ET' in a lozenge (Elizabetg Tookey, 1st mark), the lion passant (925 Sterling), the leopards head crowned (London), & the date letter 'R' (1772 - 73).

Condition is excellent for it's 237 years with no no damage. The bowl is Fine & the hallmarks are surprisingly crisp.

The spoon measures approx 7 7/8" (approx 20 cm), & weighs a substantial 56.3 g, 1.99 oz, or 1.81 Troy.
