Cased Pair of Victorian Cut Crystal Knife Rests

This is a pair of late Victorian / early Edwardian cut Crystal knife rests, complete with their original fitted case, and dating to around the turn of the 20th Century, c.1890 - 1910.

The rests are of a barbell or dumbell design with a hexagonal central bar.

The 'stands' on each rest are hexagonal in form, with 31 facets on each 'stand' (a total of 68 facets per rest).

The case has a dark brown faux leather covering, with a gilt border to the top, & is opened via a brass clasp to the front, which hinges open to reveal the interior.

The interior of the case is lined in a padded cream 'silk' to the lid, whilst the base has 2 compartments lined in dark blue / black velvet.

Each knife rest measures approx 4" in length (approx 10 cm).

Condition of the rests is Fine, with 2 or 3 minuscule 'fleabites' on one rest (you need a glass to see them).

The case interior is in good condition, with only light staining to the padded silk lining. The exterior is in fair condition, with wear to the covering, particularly the base, & there are 2 small pieces of covering missing from the sides. The hinges & clasp are fine.

All in all, a superb quality pair of Late Victorian knife rests, particularly scarce & unusual in that they are cased.
