This is a pair of 18th Century wick trimmers, made of steel & with an indecipherable makers mark, and most probably dating to around 1750 - 1800. The steel trimmers are scissor form with a hammered brass pin, and have upturned handles & an open 'box'. The box is somewhere between a semi-heart & a semi-circle shape, & the edge has been attached to the base via two 'pins' (just visible when looking closely at the base). There is a makers name stamped next to the pin, although it's covered by over 200 years of patina, making it almost illegible - please see magnified photo. As with most steel trimmers of this era, there is a slight variation in the height of the upturned handles, & the size / shape of the finger holes. Condition is Fine, with no problems. The trimmers have not been cleaned & have a lovely patina. The trimmers measure approx 6" in length (approx 15.4cm).
