WMF Silver Plate Art Nouveau Bowl Sugar c1910

This is an Art Nouveau period Silver Plated Bowl, made by WMF & fully marked with the 'bee-hive' & Ostrich mark, & dating to around 1910 - 15.

The bowl is circular in form, with a pointed (egg shaped?) base, & stands on four cabriole legs.

The bowl is decorated with an embossed laurel wreath & acanthus mounts to the legs.

The bowl is fully marked to the bottom of the base with the half shaded 'bee-hive' & ostrich mark (introduced on June 1st 1910), 'OX' (oxidized), I/O (Silver plate deposit), & 'g' (gilt).

Condition is very good, with minor plate loss to the extremities. The interior was almost certainly gilded (according to the 'g' mark), although all trace of it has disappeared.

The bowl was almost certainly made as a sugar, but it is highly decorative in it's own right. We have also listed the matching jug.

The bowl stands approx 2 1/8" high (approx 5.2cm), with a diameter of approx 3 1/4" (approx 8.2cm).
