This is a vintage 835 Silver figural snuff or pill box, fully hallmarked (twice) for Oporto, Portugal, & dating to the latter (post 1938) part of the 20th Century.

The box is in the form of a book, with a planished finish to both sides & 'spine', & a ribbed design to the edges (representing pages).

The box hinges open to reveal a Gilt interior.

The box is fully hallmarked to one exterior edge & to the interior lip of the lid, with a right facing eagle & 835 in a cut corner cartouche (Portuguese 835 standard Silver, assayed in Oporto) & the makers mark (crossed 'tusks'? containing an 'A', with a 'tree' at either side). This particular Portugal Silver mark has been used from 1938.

Condition is Fine, with a no dings or dents, & an excellent hinge & closure. The only thing to note is an extremely small & extremely shallow depression to the R/H top side, near the hinge. This in no way affects the box, hinge, or closure in any way at all.

The box measures approx 1 5/8" long & 1 1/4" wide (approx 4.1cm & 3.2cm).
