Mauchline Ware Brooch Pin 'Robert Burns' c.1880

This is an extremely scarce, Victorian Scottish Mauchline Ware brooch or pin, made of wood from the banks of the River Doon in Ayrshire, Scotland, & dating to around 1880.

The brooch, which is made from Sycamore wood, is scalloped in form with a 'C' clasp fastening to the rear.

The front of the brooch has an oval lithographic print of Robert (or Rabbie) Burns, whilst the rear is printed with 'MADE OF WOOD GROWN ON THE BANKS OF THE DOON'.

Condition is Exceptional, with absolutely no damage, splits, or cracks - please see magnified photographs.

The brooch measures approx 2" long by 1 5/8" deep (approx 5.2cm x 4cm).

Overall, a very scarce & original Victorian Mauchline brooch, in exceptional condition for it's 130 years.
