Georgian Geo III Silver Fish Slice Server CHAWNER 1815

This is a large 12" George III Silver fish slice or server, by the silversmith William Chawner II, & fully hallmarked for London 1814 - 15.

The slice is of the fiddle pattern & is engraved to the terminal with the floral initials 'ER'.

The blade is curved in form with a scalloped edge, & has been decorated with a reeded border and an ornately pierced grille.

The slice is fully hallmarked to the rear with the makers mark 'WC' (William Chawner II), the lion passant (925 Sterling), the leopards head crowned (London), the date letter 'T' (1814 - 15), & the George III head (duty mark).

Condition is fine, with no repairs & a perfect grille. The only point to note is that there is an absolutely tiny nick to the top edge of the blade - fantastic for it's 195 years.

The slice measures approx 12" in length with a blade width of approx 2 3/4" (approx 30.5cm & 7cm).

The slice weighs a substantial 149.3 g, 5.27 oz, or 4.80 Troy.
