Edwardian Silver Inkwell & Silver Stand Tray Bham 1906
This is an Edwardian Silver & Glass inkwell and Silver inkstand, with the makers mark of WHS & S, & both pieces fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1906.

The stand is navette or boat shaped, slightly curving upwards towards both ends, & with a solid fluted rim which has a stylised shell decoration on each side & a foliate & shell decoration at each end. The stand sits on four pad feet & has a central hole, into which, the inkwell sits.

The glass inkwell is oval in form with faceted sides & has been mounted with a Silver collar & a hinged lid with a decorative finial. The base of the inkwell has a protruding foot, which fits snugly into the hole in the inkstand, thus securing it from being knocked over.

The inkstand is hallmarked with the makers mark 'WHS & S', the anchor (Birmingham), the lion passant (925 Sterling), & the date letter 'g' (1906 - 07). The collar of the inkwell carries the makers mark, lion passant, & date letter, whilst the interior lid carries the date letter & lion passant.

Condition is fine. The stand has a very, very small & very shallow bruise to one side (felt, not seen) & the foot of the inkwell has a small chip to one side (not seen in the stand & does not affect the piece in any way) - fantastic for it's 103 years.

The stand measures approx 7 1/4" (18.4cm) in length & approx 4" (10.2cm) at it's widest point.

The weight of the tray (Excluding the inkwell) is 93.1 g, 3.28 oz, or 2.99 Troy.
