Early Edwardian Silver Pocket Watch Stand COMYNS 1901

This is an early Edwardian Silver pocket watch stand, by the illustrious silversmiths William Comyns & Sons, & fully hallmarked for London 1901.

The stand is wooden with a Silver front & sides, a velvet covered back, & is in the form of an arch, with a deep, stepped lip which follows the contours of the arch, & a tapering circular 'face'.

The rear of the stand has a circular, hinged door, secured by a clasp, which opens to allow access to the compartment for the pocket watch.

The stand is fully hallmarked to one side with the makers mark 'W.C' (William Comyns & Sons), the lion passant (925 Sterling), the leopards head (London), & the date letter 'f' (1901 - 02).

This is an absolutely stunning stand, which will turn any pocket watch into the most elegant of small mantle or desk clocks.

Condition is Fine, with only the slightest undulation on the interior lip of the arch (felt & not seen, and absolutely minor). The velvet covering on the rear door is a slightly shade of blue, compared to the rest of the covering, so may have been recovered at some point.

The stand is approx 3 3/4" high & 3 1/2" wide (approx 9.6cm x 8.9cm).

Overall, one of the best & most elegant pocket watch stands, from a famous maker, & in Fine condition for it's 108 years.
