These two small rectangular dishes are covered in a warm egg yolk yellow glaze; they are freely incised with a view of a small boat beneath a cliff in a traditional version of iconic images illustrating Su Shih’s famous Song Dynasty prose poem, The Red Cliff (1082). They are quite rare and date from the late nineteenth century. Ex: Eldred’s. Size: L: 10.7cm W: 8 cm
Condition: Good. One plate has a small firing crack in the surface of the interior and a minor hairline at the bottom rim. The other is in perfect shape.
