| Rare Momoyama/Edo period Jikokuten ("He who maintains the state" or “Watcher of the Lands”). Jikokuten is one of the "Four Heavenly Kings". In the Buddhist faith, the "Four Heavenly Kings" are four guardian gods, each of whom watches over one cardinal direction of the world. They are the protectors of the world and fighters of evil, each able to command a legion of supernatural creatures to protect Buddhism. This statue stands in a dignified protective posture atop rocks. One hand holds a sword, while the other warns off ill-prepared challengers. He has crystal eye-inserts, and dark muted red and green run through his realistically draped Kimono. Total Dimensions: H-47cm, W-20cm, Statue: H-35, W-18cm. | |||||||||||||||
