Lions of Foo were placed at the entrance of temples and believed to ward off evil spirits and Demons; they were also used to protect the home. Nigeria Yoruba Statue Woman with baby. Very rare. mid to late 19th C. Very Heavy! Palm wood. 143cm x 27cm. Condition good some dry rot but stable. Patina:Light brown, dry, significant patina. Vintage Chinese Vase c1930 Huge 37" 46" w/stand The Vase is 37" in height and the Mahogany Stand is 9". Both are in good condition. The vase has a repaired crack to rim. Nothing missing. Displays well. The stand is strong and in perfect condition. This peice is incredably decorated with thousands of raised perl and gold leaf dots, and intricate gold leaf with many paintings of flowers and a scene of Chinese characters. Great decorators piece.
