Pre Columbian San jaunito Jalisco terracotta c300BC
Authenticated and thermoluscesently tested.San jaunito style Jalisco terracotta, San Juanito Style Jalisco Terracotta Sculpture of a Seated Woman (Very nice condition, nice color. Its a fine piece museum quality.)

Origin: Western Mexico Circa: 300 BC to 300 AD Dimensions: 12.5" (32.3cm) high x 10" (25.4cm) wide 7" Deep (15.0cm) Collection: Pre-Columbian Medium: Terracotta
The gesture this vivid woman makes with her hands is quite common in the tomb figures of Western Mexico. The gesture is perhaps a ritual of worship - part of the act of praying to the Gods - or a sign of mourning. If the exact nuance of the gesture is unclear, we today have no trouble understanding the deeply felt emotions with which it was made. A remarkable sculpture whose impact remains undiminished by time It wont be around long.
On close inspection you can see that there is a very fine hole on both ear lobes, apparently for real silver or gold earings
