Governor of MA 1875, Mayor of Boston, before 1874, and Master Mason of the Grand Lodge of MA, and William Gaston of North Carolina. Both Abolitionists and often conversing with President Lincoln. The collection is HUGE! Over a Thousand, Official Documents, Personal Letters, Notes, Invitations, Speeches including one by Gaston urging the legislature to support Lincoln and the coming war 1861, every politician in MA over a hundred year period, Death threats to Governor Gaston when he pardoned Pomeroy Probably Americas first serial killer (One from "The Chosen")Custom books, a Huge scrap book collection with more than 10,000 news clippings supporting all of the documents. news clippings of everything Gaston and others, political cartoons, personal letters to and from family members and Senators, Congressmen, Mayors, Legislators. The story behind this is fascinating)is the only copy in existence it is not supposed to exist, (it on high grade grey rag doublet pages Fine condition) it’s not copywrited it is a prerelease, Three are hard cover books from memorial ceremonies for Gaston, One is a Speech hard bound three quarter calf from September 30th.1835. Custom bound, and others including a large Diary written by Gaston’s daughter and dictated to her later in his life (Very Interesting historical and personal stories) Includes additional items from the related Beecher family like donation of clothes to the Civil War effort 1861 through the City of Boston. Also over 12 HUGE WWl Posters and Political banners and posters. All Bright and unmarked and a hundred or so official documents WWl concerning the war effort needs and recruiting. And Democratic National Party Posters All Fine. Gaston also had his own collection of signatures of prominent figures included. Vice President Nelson Rockefeller WWII presentation to later Gaston, also signed documents from just about every mid to late 19th century MA politician.. Also mentions Lee's Army.
