| Osborne & Shipton, London, 1756. “The History of London From its Foundation to the Present Time” Elephant Folio's. By William Maitland, F.R.S. and Others. By the King's Authority, London, 1756. Two volumes; (second edition). This copy, volume II has a variant title-page entitled "Volume I." which is dated 1754. The title-page is listed in ESTC, and was printed concurrently with the earlier parts issued at the end of 1753, 1754. The title-page to volume I reads: "Printed for T. Osborne and J. Shipton, in Gray's-Inn; And J. Hodges, near London-Bridge. MDCCLVI." while that of volume II reads: "Printed for R. Baldwin, at the Rose, in Pater-noster-Row. MDCCLIV." Full calf, Hinges are tight, corners rubbed. 40 x 25 cm. The number of plates for this edition is 123 unnumbered plates, all are present and in good condition. This set is complete in all respects (Nothing Missing). The bindings appear to be early 19th century calf with the original binding titles re-applied. Both volumes are in Good to V.Good condition inside and out. Nice addition to any collection. | |||||||||||||||
