| FOLIO. This is an initial offering of a mostly complete 1601 version of the Persian Book of Kings. "Shahnama". 48 paintings, 590+ leafs,1150++ pages and numerous other illustrations. This is a volume bound in a conservation binding, labeled and one of the few copies this complete offered in a hundred years. The price is negotiable. Pictures of all the paintings and most of the text and colophon are available on request. This volume has been in a private collection for decades and we have as yet found no other offering of it for sale anywhere in the 20th century. Most of the pages and all of the paintings are in very good condition, some of the text pages have been professionally conserved and backed to stabilize them. It is highly unusual to come across a copy of the Shahnama as complete as this. The exact number of verses covered has yet to be determined. We are interested in any informed feedback anyone would like to offer. The volume will go up for sale sometime this year. We have provenance going back to the turn of the century.
