Victorian Merklen Bros. Spiral Woven Piano Chair

Unusual piano stool made by Merklen Brothers Spiral Furniture Company from New York City between 1885 and 1897.The woven back is Moorish Fretwork which was invented and patented by Moses Ransom in September 1885. The chair is adjustable in height. It has spiral turned legs and sides with brass ball and claw feet. Pads were added to the feet at a later date but they are easily removable. This chair is heavily lacquered and measuring approximately 40" in height. It is in excellent antique condition.
