This hand painted oval plaque is of Madonna Della Sedia, or Madonna of the chairs. It is after Rafael and depicts the Virgin Mary, Madonna, holding Jesus with St. John at his side. This was done in Florence, Italy as the mark depicts on the reverse side. Age: Circa 1900 Measurements: Painting alone:3 1/4" by 2 5/8", with frame: 7" by 6 1/4" Condition: Very Good. There are a few areas in the gold wood frame that have cracks but it is stable as the cracks don't seem to go through to the other side. The porcelain plaque could use some cleaning. Otherwise, no chips or cracks. |
