This platter is about 14" d. and is an example of Viktor Schreckengost's artwork, shortly after he ceased working as a designer for Cowan Pottery (which closed in 1931). The piece has a full signature reading VIKTOR SCHRECKENGOST and is dated '34 (for 1934). The ceramic plate was designed to look wheel-thrown and is actually a rare prototype in itself, of a line that VS proposed to American Limoges and wanted to have called "Peasant Ware."
