These two unusual wall plaques were made by workers in the North Dakota WPA program, between 1936 and 1942, which was intended to help teach people how to make a living as artists. (There is a short informative article on Wikipedia called "North Dakota Pottery.") The story of this concern is connected to that of UND (University of North Dakota) as well as DICKOTA and Rosemeade. They measure about 7.75" x 4.75" and have original holes to allow them to be displayed on the wall. Glazed in a somewhat mottled glossy rust brown, cinnamon color. They both have historical transportation themes, one showing American Indians (a man and woman) and the other Caucasian settlers with a covered wagon. So the represent together the changes made to the Old West in American during the 19th century. No nicks, chips, hairlines, or repairs. Properly marked. Please email me about shipping costs, etc. My apologies, but I am not willing to separate them.
