Shearwater Art Pottery Mother Goose Figurine Cat
This great 9.25" t. x 9.25" figurine is a 1930s or 1940s design by the renowned Mississippi artist Walter Inglis Anderson. The Shearwater Pottery is family-owned and -operated, since 1928, and the WIA designs are still in production, made from molds and individually hand-decorated.

"Dick Whittington and His Cat" is derived from a Mother Goose rhyme--and is one of the larger of the hard-to-locate fairytale figurines by Shearwater. This piece has colorful hand-painted motifs and openwork, so will need to be carefully packed for you.

The bottom is hand-incised Shearwater (script) and 2008. I'm downsizing my collection, or would not have this piece available for sale.

No nicks, chips, hairlines, or repairs. Exceptional condition! Perfect for the collector of southern art pottery like George Ohr, Newcomb College, and so on.
