Shearwater Art Pottery Dancing Pirate Figurine Deco
This 6.5" t. figurine is a 1930s design by the renowned Mississippi artist Walter Inglis Anderson. The Shearwater Pottery is family-owned and -operated, since 1928, and the WIA designs are still in production, made from molds and individually hand-decorated.

He is muscular and comical, despite the fact that he seems to be holding a dagger in his left hand (and maybe a tambourine in the right).

The bottom is hand-incised with the SP monogram and 08 (for 2008).

No nicks, chips, hairlines, or repairs. Exceptional condition! Perfect for the collector of southern art pottery like George Ohr, Newcomb College, and so on.

Please inquire if you need to see more photos.
