This rare 5-3/8" x 3-3/8" full-color souvenir postcard depicts the "Pottery Building Newcomb College, / New Orleans, La." On the back is the stock number 10215 of "Grombach-Faisans Co. Ltd., Publishers, New-Orleans, La." In the stamp region are the words "Made in Germany."
There is a bit of chipping along the bottom edge, and on all four corners. Some blackening of the image at left and right, which may be ink from the printing process (?). Still, a very desirable and early commemorative and advertising item.
Along with George Ohr, Grueby, and decorated Marblehead, Newcomb College is today one of the most collectible of the American art potteries. This card would make an excellent addition to any collection focusing on Southern wares, or on American art pottery in general. I don't know the age of this card, but assume that it was published before 1930, and possibly as early as 1910.
