This unusual 5-1/2" x 3-1/2" souvenir postcard depicts "Knowles, Taylor and Knowles Pottery, East Liverpool, Ohio" [makers of Lotus Ware] and is also captioned 4567--PUBLISHED BY DAVIS & GOULD. On the back, a different notice names the maker as "A.E. PAPER & STATIONERY CO. MFRS. AYER, MASS." instead of the East Liverpool printer.
This card was postmarked on April 12, 1908 from East Liverpool and bears a green one-cent stamp. (Note: I am offering 12 additional Knowles cards this week, several of which show the company's workers and/or products.)
The postcard is addressed to Miss Letha L. Welch, in care of Billy Abbott, but the rest of the message is either personal or partly illegible.
Condition is good. The corners have been mildly bumped, and there are some chips to the edges. Some minor age discoloration. The triangular tan spot near the factory (at the lefthand edge) appears to be a printing error.
Note that this scanned image is not as crisp as the actual postcard. A great find for the collector or researcher of American art pottery and American china/dinnerware.
