This outstanding pair of art deco sculptures is marked PHOENIX and dates to the late 1930s. The figurines represent a shepherd (or perhaps St. Francis) with a pair sheep, and an allegorical female companion who is winding wool onto a spindle. Very WPA in style.
They measures 10.5" t. and are glazed in a luscious combination of matte chocolate brown and thick milky white gloss.
No nicks, chips, hairlines, or repairs.
