| Austrian Viennese Bronze & Enamel Courting Scene Musical Box Set. Vintage, Excellent Condition, Seven Pieces. Rare gilt bronze and enamel musical box set. Made of two chairs, two sofas, a love-seat, a piano and a table. Only the table and the piano are musical boxes. All of the pieces are made with gilt bronze frames and have enameled hand-painted plaques with different scenes. They were made in Austria in the early 20th Century. The piano has painted musical instruments above vegetation on the key board lid, cherub scenes and landscapes around it (unfortunately here it has a tiny crack on one corner of the enamel), a courting scene with a couple, a boy, a sheep and a dog on the outside part of the lid and three woman and a man on the inner part of the same lid. It has red velvet inside it. Also, the stands are made of enamel. When the piano lid is lifted the music starts. The musical box works perfectly. It measures: 5 3/8 X 3 ½ in. and 3 ½ in. of height approx. Table has a hand enameled plaque with two man and a woman playing music in a Rococo Scene. This has a musical mechanism beneath the plaque. It has a wind knob and a switch beneath. The knob is marked: “REUGE STE-CROIX, SWISS MADE”. This piece is also in excellent condition, the musical box works perfectly. It measures: 3 ¾ X 3 in. and 2 1/8 in. of height approx. The love seat has two enamel plaques between a bronze frame, both of them have courting scenes. The upper one is a couple sitting on the grass playing a musical instrument beside a lake. The other has another couple, but they are talking. It measures: 4 X 1 5/8 in. and 3 in. of height approx. The chairs have two enamel plaques each one and they are all different. One is of a man playing a musical instrument, another of a woman with a bouquet of roses, another of a woman with a fan and the last is of a man with a book. Each one measures: 1 3/8 X 1 ¾ in. and 2 5/8 in. of height approx. The sofas also have two different enamel plaques each one. One is of a man playing a musical instrument, another of a woman with a book, another of a woman with a bouquet of roses and the last is of a man with a guitar. Each one measures: 2 1/8 X 1 ½ in. and 2 5/8 in. of height approx. This set is really rare and it is in excellent condition, it has only some minor surface scratches and dents common to any worn vintage piece.
