| Tartanware set of books, Scott's Poetical Works, Select Edition, Edinbergh: Adam and Charles Black, 1874. 6 Volumes in all, leather spines embossed in gold. Each book has a different tartan cover: Caledonia, M'Lean, Stuart, M'Beth,Prince Charlie, M'Pherson. The box is covered in the M'Beth tartan and has a classical figure with a seated dog on the top. The interior of the box is lined in burgundy velvet and has individual slots for the books. The size of the box is 8"x6.5"x4.5" deep approximately. The condition is very good, though not pristine. There is craqueleur on the surface of the box, a small bit of wear to the endmost edge of the spine of several of the books, and some light rubbing where the books meet the velvet. | |||||||||
