| These are a delightful pair of prints humorously depicting coutroom scenes. The first, titled "Le Tendre", shows a lawyer pleading a young woman's case before the court. At first glance the defendant appears to be in great distress with her head in her hands, but upon closer inspection you notice she is peeping through her fingers at the viewer immediately giving you a deliciously conspiritorial connection to the subject. The expressions on the faces of the judges are wonderful. Each print is signed in pencil by G.Hoffman. In the upper right hand corner of "Le Tendre" is copyright by Ch.Ducher...Paris. They carry the retailer's label for Levasseur, 230 Rue de Rivoli, Paris. Both are in very good condition with some light foxing, mostly around the edges. The size is approximately 16"x12" and I believe they date to 1930's. Please see the other photographs for the other engraving. Thank you. | ||
