|Offered here is a French sterling patch box or pill box. It is simple in design and is only decorated with a coat of arms on the lid. The coat of arms has a lion and fler d'lis, and is inscribed "anima et fide". The box has a mark on the bottom and the lid, and it may be the French Mercury mark, which means it was made for export, but it is very difficult to make out. It also has the initials J.C., the maker's mark, stamped on the bottom. The box is in excellent condition with no dents or scratches, and the lid fit's snugly. I believe it dates to late 19th to early 20th century. It is 2" in diameter.|
