| This is an unframed oil on canvas attributed to Everett Lloyd Bryant. From Edan Hughes, "Artists in California, 1786-1940", Bryant was a painter and muralist known for his flora still lifes and landscapes in watercolor and oil. He studied in London with M. Blanc and Thomas Couture. Later he attended the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts under Thomas Anshutz, William Merritt Chase, and Cecelia Beaux. He died in Los Angeles in 1945. The painting is quite wonderful, with bold impressionistic style and colors. It is unframed and has had a small hole repaired in the canvas. As to the attribution: I bought it as painted by Bryant, from a reputable gallery in the NE. I have not found a signature however, so the best that I can say is that it is after or attributed to the artist Everett Lloyd Bryant. It is a thoroughly delightful painting and as such, is well worth the price whoever painted it. The size is 18" by 22". | |||||
