| This is a wonderful etching by Frank Patou of Jack Russell terriers, I believe the term is "gone to ground". The title of the etching is "Notice to Quit". Among the many attributes of this work is the large number of remarques around the central image. There are 8 in all, all humorous, depicting mostly some interaction between man and animal. They really add to the charm of this unusual piece. The print has been professionally framed in a fine burlwood frame with a double mat. There is foxing in the margins where the remarques are. The etching measures 19.5" by 17.5" as framed, and the image is 9.5" by 7.5" approximately. The etching dates to around 1880-1890, and the frame is new. | |||||||||
