| Offered here is a stunning pair of early sconces, that have been wired for electricity, however the previous owner used them with candles. They are somewhat delicate, but should last hanging on the wall another hundred years or so. The gilding has been over painted, and the eagles may have been gilt wood and over painted in black. They measure 24" in height and are 12" across. The previous owner was a friend of the legendary designer, Sister Parish, and purchased the sconces from her, but there is no documentation of that. A similar pair (without the over painting) sold at Christies in December 2006 for over $8000.00 | ||||||
