|Offered here is a fascinating find out of New York City. This is a pencil sketchbook with the title of "Orthodox Jewish Faces & Figures I met in the Streets of New York", Helmuth Nathan, New York 1964. The sketchbook includes 39 individual pencil drawings of faces and figures, most all of which are signed by the artist. The artist was Helmuth Max Nathan who was primarily a famous physician in NYC. Nathan was also a published author as well as published in professional journals and periodicals. He was also an artist and sculptor, and the recipient of many prizes and awards for his paintings, graphics and sculpture. His work is represented in the permanent collections of museums and universities, and some of his sketches can be found also in the JFK Library and the papers of Linus Pauling. Nathan is listed in Who Was Who. The small book measures approximately 4" by 6", is missing a cover and is unbound. The sketches themselves are in fine condition. These sketches are a real treasure.|
