| Offered here is a small round box made of ivory and tortoiseshell. The top is decorated with a lavender guilloche enamel and gold medallion with a deep red stone set in the center. The inside of the box is tortoiseshell and there are thin bands of tortoiseshell around the outside of the box. I doubt that the stone is genuine but I do not know about the gold on the top. The ivory has the pretty graining you would expect and the color is nice and mellow. I would say the box would be late 19th to early 20th century. It seems to be in nice condition and the top fits snugly. There is some wear around the edges and one spot where the one of the ivory bands has separated slightly. The box is approximately 2.5" in diameter and .75" high. | |||||||
