A NICELY CARVED OKIMONO JAPANESE OF FARMER SIGNED BY THE ARTIST.
It is of sectional form and depicts a farmer carrying a basket and hoe. It is 5.25 inches (13 cms) tall and carries signature on the base in red lacquer inset plaque. Dating from the Meiji period circa 1900 it is in good condition. An old crack in base was presumably there from the start as the carver has decorated around it. It stands on carved wooden base that has an old paper label attached. |
