JAPANESE CARVED SECTIONAL BONE AND IVORY OKIMONO
This is a very nicely carved sectional bone figure of a Japanese peasant standing upon an ivory base Created circa 1900 he carries in one hand his tobacco pouch and in the other a game bird. Strapped to his back is a parasol. Signed (untranslated) on a red lacquer insert to the base the figure stands 8 inches (20 cms) tall. In very good condition there are just one or two small stress lines that have developed over the 100 years since his manufacture. |
