This is a Japanese Kutani dish from the Meiji period circa 1890.
Showing panels of birds, peonies and plum blossom, the painted decoration is highlighted with gilding. Kutani ceramics are normally found on a porcelain base but this plate has a crackle glaze indicating that this is decorated on a Satsuma type dish.
